overlooking singapore from the 70th floor

so the celebration continues the next day. kh made reservations at JAAN but it wasn't confirmed until the day itself. made an effort to dress nicer since it's a fine dining establishment, though i feel slightly uncomfortable while on my way there to the point of palm sweating lol don't know why.

overall it was really a nice experience. i do appreciate things like fine dining but sometimes my practical nature gets in the way and i find it hard to justify the splurging. not to mention sometimes u need an occasion and few company. again no pictures but perhaps sy will blog about it together with drool worthy images.

i did felt a bit uptight initially but relaxed more after a while. started off with sparkling water, though i did bite my tongue from saying that actually just normal plain water will do hahaha. sparkling water is just water trying to be soda but failed, paraphrased from sy. but i made up my mind to just go along with everything, be it sparkling water or wine...

we ordered 3 sets of the 3 course lunch set, and each of us got different dishes so that we get to try everything. i consciously slowed down my pace and ate smaller bites to savor the flavors, and also, prolong the dining experience because come on, fine dining portions are really small hahaha...but then i was also surprised that at the end of the meal (we took close to 3hours) despite the portion size i was just nicely full.

for me the highlight of the meal was the truffle ice cream, served with the cheese platter. i think it sort of played with my mind's perceptions of cold food. to me, cold implies sweet dessert, so to taste savory truffle was like "oh?interesting.....". and don't get me started on cheese, i love cheese :D

i quite liked the moscato wine that kh ordered, it was smooth and sweet, and the alcohol taste wasn't overpowering. as usual, my body will just betray me and i ended up with red face and hot ears one wine serving into the meal. thankfully it subsided at the end of the meal. total damage was...let's just say this is my first time seeing such figure for a 3 persons meal, lol, something to remember...

after that we walked to tom's and still had the stomach to have ice cream (sans sy) before heading to kh's hotel to meet jiayan and chill. kh and jy were going to the concert together, so sy and i decided to head to the cathay for dinner at nihon mura (lol gluttons eh...) ended the day with purchases from meiji fair before heading back home.

it's 12.23am now and i think my energy from the 5hrs sleep this morning is almost drained. tomorrow, perhaps we'll go shopping and i foresee monday will be a really blue monday.
